Elephant Writing Gloves

I have several pairs of writing gloves with various book themes. This pair has illustrations and words recreated from the book The Son of Tarzan. Is this one of my favorite books? Nope. I just really love the elephant. He’s been a great muse. Don’t tell anybody, but we have amazing literary conversations.

The Lost Doll, a Play

My Writing Journey - "The Lost Doll"

I wrote a historical play in 3rd grade (or possibly a hysterical play; I don’t have a copy, so I’m only guessing!). I’d read a book about a little girl who lost her doll while traveling by covered wagon. I adapted the story into a play. My teacher loved that play and arranged for the class to perform it for our parents.
I wish I knew the title of the book, but despite many online searches, I’ve been unable to uncover it. However, the writing bug bit me, and I was hooked.

Reading vs. Television

I am finding that reading a book has often been winning out in capturing my free time. It's quieter and more relaxing. How about you?

Adventures of Freckles & Deb

I started a blog in 2007 that shared the relationship between me and our pet bunny Freckles. Our friendship started out a little rocky with Freckles performing run-by nippings at my feet!
My friend Robyn Waters beautifully illustrated the logo for the blog, The Adventures of Freckles and Deb. It was a fun ride during which I discovered how many bunny and pet bloggers there were out there! We made lots of friends and had a great time, but I ended the blog when she passed away in April 2011. I never took it down. You can still find it at https://frecklesanddeb.blogspot.com/

Bookmarking Your Place

What do you use to bookmark your place: digital bookmark, paper bookmark, post-it note, or (gulps) turn down the corner?

Me: digital, paper, & post-it note. I can't bring myself to bend book corners unless there is absolutely no other option!

Books shown: The Tale of Willaby Creek by Victoria Lindstrom & The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale. I’ve read both of them multiple times and can highly recommend them!

New Craft Project

I've got a craft project! Do you know what these are? Can you guess how they might relate to my middle-grade novel?

Well, let me tell you! In Frigg's Journey to Anasgar, Frigg has to make a set of Nordic Runes using slices of wood and a stick to burn the symbols onto the circles. I'll be making lots of sets of runes to use in the promotion of my book. I have an info sheet in my Nadavir Kids Club that explains what Nordic Runes are and ways kids can use them in different activities. If you don't have access to the Kids Club yet, visit my website to sign up! https://debcushman.com/

Rainy Day Dragon Reading

It's a rainy Saturday in the Pacific Northwest. I think I'll join this little dragon sitting
on my bookshelf and read a good book.
Any suggestions?

Happy St Patrick's Day!

The Nadavir Gang wish you a very Irish St. Patrick's Day!
