Here’s a fun
poetry activity for kids. Have them spread out their books and look for commonalities
in the titles that they can put together to form a Spine Poem. These are sometimes called Stack Poems, depending
on whether you put them side by side on the shelf to be read left or right or
in a stack to be read top to bottom.
The Goose Girl,
sliding on the edge through the lock.
The search for
Wondla.
The sign of the
dove for Mike.
Time for bears
to dance.
An island like
you withering by the sea.
Feed the little
white horse.
I am the
cheese.
Niagara Falls,
or does it?
Time stops for no mouse.Out of the dust, the giver, gathering blue gifts. The dark hills divide a crooked kind of perfect.Call me hope.
While they’ve
got their books out of the shelves, why not have them dust and organize the
bookshelves!
