Set clear goals. Sounds simple, right? But for me, it’s more like mapping a quest through a magical forest. I begin each book with a clear vision and a trusty outline. They’re my compass and flashlight. Yet as the story unfolds, mischievous plot twists sneak in, characters reveal secrets, and sometimes a squirrel steals the map. That’s the beauty of storytelling: structure gives us direction, but creativity lets us wander.
So yes, I follow the advice. I just leave room for a few enchanted detours. Sometimes the best scenes weren’t on the itinerary. They were hiding behind a rock, waiting to jump out and shout, “LOL, cute plan.” And off we go.
